My Store Name and the Design/Create/Photograph and Ship Process

El is for Ellen. It was a curious looking object all black and shiny with a step that rocked up and down and back and forth under my great grandmother’s feet. She introduced me to her sewing machine she made her livelihood with.

LU is for LuVerne. My grandmother taught me how to catch fluttering pattern sheets, how to use that pattern to create the dress of your dreams, how a thimble helped keep you from too many pricked fingers and many more skills.

La is for Lavon. My mother encouraged the elements of design, a sense of color, and the need for exploration in sewing.

Ste is for Stephanie. Today I use Bernina sewing and embroidery equipment, which are more like computers than machines. Ellen would have been as curious about them today, as I was with her treadle machine many years ago.

Your doll is special to you and her clothes should be distinct. At ElLuLaSte you will be her personal shopper in a one-stop shop. An outfit for every time of day with custom, coordinated, shoes, hats, bags – the particular accent needed to complete the look.

True to the Etsy concept, I either personally design or modify purchased patterns for each outfit. Then, I either order or pull from my inventory all of the fabric, thread and other material [buttons, shoe soles, etc.] necessary for the outfit and cut out the material and sew or embroider it using Bernina equipment. I finish and iron each outfit. I also photograph, edit and post all of the Outfit's individual photos. Once I have an order, I prepare the outfit for shipping and package it. None of the process is done by any outside vendor and each outfit, once I start making it, takes 2-4 days to complete.
